Request the right calibration scope

A service quotation should identify the machine, probing system, software, location and the work to be performed. Calibration, verification, maintenance and repair are related activities, but they are not interchangeable. Tell the provider whether you need a periodic check, an acceptance test after installation, troubleshooting or an assessment after a machine move.

Questions to prepare before contacting a supplier

  • Machine make, model, serial number, measuring volume and probe configuration.
  • Applicable test method, acceptance specification and environmental conditions.
  • On-site service territory, travel costs and expected downtime.
  • Report content, uncertainty statement and traceability information.
  • If accreditation is required, the provider’s current certificate and relevant scope.

A platform badge does not replace a calibration certificate or accreditation scope. When compliance requires accredited work, ask the provider for current documentation covering the specific service you intend to purchase.
